Lip Lift

Conveniently located to serve Chicago

With age, the upper lip tends to lose volume and move to a lower position which can change the appearance of the mouth during smiling and at rest. A lip lift restores the position and relationship of the upper lip to other facial features in order to create a healthier appearance and a more youthful smile. Newer techniques have been developed to minimize scarring and downtime. Some patients can have improvement with lip filler, and others require a formal lip lift, and our surgeons can help you select which procedure is best for you.

FAQ

Is a lip lift an in-office, inpatient, or outpatient procedure?

A lip lift can often be done in the office or as an outpatient procedure with anesthesia. This means patients undergoing the procedure can safely return home soon after it is completed.

How will a lip improve my appearance?

A lip lift can shorten an elongated and flattened upper lip. It can help show more red lip and increase the fullness of the lip. A lip lift can also help you show more teeth with smiling.

Will there be any scarring or bruising after my lip lift?

There can be some swelling after lip lift which may last for several weeks. There can be notable scarring if your surgeon is not meticulous about the closure. Bruising is not uncommon, but resolves relatively quickly.

How long is the recovery after my lip lift?

After undergoing lip lift surgery, patients will have to take some time off to rest and recover. During this time, it is advised that patients take some time off work. We’ll advise you on the proper recovery precautions you should take during your consultation. Swelling does occur after lip lift and can last up to 3 weeks. After 2-3 months the lips have settled to the final appearance you can expect, but they continue to soften with time.

Who Are Good Candidates For The Lip Lift?

Lip lift surgery is an ideal procedure for older people whose lips have lost volume and developed a much thinner look. This loss of volume is a natural result of the aging process. For some, thin lips are simply a result of genetics and may appear in younger people as well. Whatever the case may be, a lip lift can help rectify the problem and replenish volume in the lips for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

How Much Does A Lip Lift Cost?

The cost of a lip lift varies from patient to patient and depends on the needs of each individual. The factors that help determine the cost are the technique used and the extent of correction needed to achieve the desired look. An assessment will be performed on the lips before the procedure to help determine the technique used and the associated cost.

Will the Lip Lift be Painful?

The lip lift procedure is performed under anesthesia to help limit any discomfort that may arise. There may be some mild swelling and discomfort after the procedure, but this is temporary and will subside. Medication can be provided to help ease any lingering discomfort that may arise.
