Neck liposuction is done to remove excess fat that tends to accumulate under the chin and impart a heavy and aged appearance. A small incision is used to allow suction instruments to remove the fat from under the skin without the need for long incisions or painful recovery.
FAQ
How do I know if neck liposuction is right for me?
Neck liposuction can be helpful for patients with extra fat under the skin of the chin and neck without a lot of skin laxity. If you have loose neck skin, other procedures such as a neck lift may be more beneficial. Dr. Revenaugh and Dr. Smith will help you decide which procedure is right for you.
Is neck liposuction an in-office, inpatient, or outpatient procedure?
Neck liposuction is an outpatient procedure. Often this is done in a procedure room or operating room under sedation.
Will there be incisions or scarring after this procedure?
There are small incisions for neck liposuction and a very low risk of scarring.
What is the difference between a neck liposuction and neck lift?
Neck liposuction is designed to remove excess fat from the neck and chin area. Neck lift can tighten sagging skin. Sometimes both are combined for rejuvenation in certain patients.
What is the recovery after neck liposuction?
Most patients have some mild soreness and swelling. Bruising is not uncommon, and we recommend allowing 7-10 days for this to improve. Dr. Revenaugh and Dr. Smith will discuss any individual risks to you.
